Dumbing Down of America

I guess that I shouldn’t be surprised, but on a recent visit to Baskin Robins I purchased two scoops of ice cream (have you ever noticed that all of their flavors seem to taste the same?) and paid with cash. I asked for a receipt and the cashier said “We do not give receipts for cash transactions, only credit card charges.” I say OK then I will charge it, handed him my card and took my money back. He then does not know how to void the cash transaction and asks a co-worker for help. She does not know either so they ask a girl who appears to be a customer, but either must be there on an off day or was a former employee. He explained the situation to her and she said just push this button and print a receipt for the cash transaction. He does and everything works fine, almost. He gives me my card back and I give him $5 for a $2.99 charge. After printing the receipt the cash register reset and did not display the change figure. So, he pulls out a calculator to help him determine the change amount. Wow. Somebody please call Bush. This child seems to have been “left behind”.
