Oooooo, Those Threatening Coffins
The Secret Service issued a directive on 12/17 to the National Park Service that along the inaugural parade route there can be no folding chairs, bicycles and other structures, and displays "such as puppets, papier mache objects, coffins, crates, crosses, theaters, cages, and statues" because all of these "could be used in potentially threatening or harmful manner".
When was the last time that you heard a report of someone being threatened or harmed by a coffin? Seems like Bush does not want to be reminded again of the large number of service men and women that he is killing in Iraq. It was very chilling to see 1,000 mock coffins draped in black during the protest march at the Republican National Convention.
Also, beware of threatening or harmful puppets. Maybe Homeland Security should shut down Sesame Street? How could any sane person have voted for these idiots?

I agree with you completely, but the fact that they identified coffins as the only specific instance of a box-like structure that many threatening things can be hidden is rather curious, don't you think? Why didn't they list refrigerators, or an IBM System 360, or any other large boxy thing?
