More Dumbing Down of America
I hate to sound like Andy Rooney, but did you ever wonder why the public has an insatiable desire for information that is absolutely meaningless to their lives while they ignore things that directly affect them? Take this Billy Tauzin story about him being rewarded with a plum lobbying job for his work for the drug manufacturers while in Congress. Nobody seems to care about that. No report of this by the major network news, just a little few-paragraph blurb buried in the business section, if included in the paper at all. Here is a guy that will have an impact on all of our lives, ensuring that the government does nothing to lower the already too high price of prescription drugs in this country, while the president looks the other way. But we get bombarded with stories and analysis of a murder trial that has no impact on our lives for months and months, even after the verdict has been read. Wake up America!

Personally I am growing weary of the endless commentary on a great many subjects. Continuing to discuss items that have no bearing on me, or on which I can have no bearing is tiresome, and wasteful of time, energy and oxygen. I am making a concerted effort to stop.
But this has a direct bearing on you and everyone in this country. The trouble is that too many people are ignoring these kinds of things.
