Another Example of the Corporate Stranglehold on America

I see that Billy Tauzin, former House member who headed the committee that “regulates” the pharmaceutical industry, is being rewarded for ramrodding that ridiculous Medicare prescription benefit into law, with a $2 million per year salary to head up the Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America. This is the powerful lobbying group, members of which were illegally permitted on the House floor during the vote for the prescription drug bill, the vote that Bush illegally held open for three hours, while he lied to House members about the cost of the bill, having been told that it would cost nearly $200 billion more than he was promising to get these votes. With Billy at the helm we have no hope of seeing any meaningful reform/repeal of this horrible bill, and we can be certain that drug prices will be increased to obscenely new heights.
