Bush: Stay in DC

I noticed that Bush is planning to travel to 60 cities in 60 days to campaign for his “plan” to “save” Social Security. This makes me curious about:

1. If the Bush “plan” to change Social Security is such a good one why does he have to stage these campaign events?

2. Why are these events staged as were his election campaign events, i.e., only supporters are permitted to attend, questions are planted in the audience and dissenters are hauled away or arrested?

3. Who is really paying for all of this?

I have said it before and will continue to say that the basic premise on which the Bush “plan” is based is flat out wrong. The amount deducted from your paycheck for Social Security is NOT YOUR MONEY. This is a TAX that is used as an insurance policy for the elderly, their survivors, and the disabled, who need financial assistance. It is also NOT A RETIREMENT PLAN. Before Bush can even begin to think about crafting a plan to address the solvency issues of Social Security, he must understand these two principle factors about Social Security.

Mr. Bush, stay in Washington and DO YOUR JOB!
