Goodbye Tom Ridge

Tom Ridge is stepping down as the head of the Department of Homeland Security because he is not making enough money. He claims that his $175,000 annual salary is not enough for him to pay for his children’s college costs. (Hey Tom, trade me salaries and I will pay for your kids’ education) No one seems to care that he says stuff like this, not to mention that he has done nothing to really secure this country. Our ports are wide open, our chemical plants are sitting ducks, and we have been provided the illusion of security at the airport when we are forced to remove our shoes. All that he has accomplished is helping Bush expand government with this department of 170,000 people. So much for smaller government.

Oh well, at least this guy is gone, and for that we can be thankful.
