Movie Late Comers
Here's the scene: I am by myself in Scottsdale, AZ, a week before the Oscars and decide to see The Aviator, a 3-hour movie. I know that I will need a lot of room to move around during the movie because I have trouble sitting still for long amounts of time. My doctor says I have ADD in my butt. Anyway, I go early sit in the middle of the last row, throw the arm rests next to me up and spread out. As expected people come in and eventually a couple sits on my right with a seat between us, and later a couple sits on my left with a seat between us. Perfect! I sit back with my feet out and my hands clasped behind my head spreading my elbows out like the comfortable guy that I am and need to be. The place continues to fill, but not pack, so there are a lot of seats, especially in the front. The lights go down, the previews begin and don’t you know that some folks come up to the last row expecting to find 4 seats together. They insist that everybody to my left move over to make room. They do, so now I have someone cramped up against me. Just as the movie begins, it happens again on the other side, smashing me from the right side. So I have to sit there scrunched in like being in the middle seat on a 3-hour flight. All because these idiots insist on coming late and not sitting where there are plenty of available seats. Thank god for Netflix, so that I don’t have to deal with these arrogant bastards every time I want to see a movie.
